The dynamical structure factor of glassy systems.
Paolo Verrocchio
Abstract
A computation of the dynamical structure factor of topologically
disordered systems, where the disorder can be described in terms of
euclidean random matrices, is presented. Among the others, glasses
and supercooled liquids belong to that class of systems.
The computation is hence suitable in describing their relevant
spectral features, both the high frequency sound and
the 'Boson peak'. As a matter of fact, the analytical results are
in a very good agreement with numerical simulations and can
explain the findings of inelastic X-ray scattering experiments
on various glassy systems.
