Abstract

QCD lattice simulations with chemical potential encounter serious problems due to the complex phase of the action.  On the other hand effective theories such as chiral Perturbation Theory and Matrix Models provide detailed information on the complex Dirac operator spectrum in the confined phase, in a region most sensitive to chiral symmetry breaking.

We compare complex Matrix Model predictions to theories where standard Lattice simulations are possible: full two colour QCD and quenched QCD.  Excellent agreement is found including the scaling of quark mass and chemical potential with the volume. As a byproduct F_pi can be determined.
