Phase-ordering in one dimension

Abstract
I will consider the ordering properties of a vectorial system with p degenerate states (clock model) quenched to low temperatures in one dimension. The model corresponds to the Ising model for $p=2$ and to the XY model for $p=\\infty$. In the former one has formation and growth of domains separated by interfaces, in the latter the dynamics is characterized by the presence of textures. I will discuss the interplay between these different kinetic mechanisms for generic p, showing the existence of a transition going from $p<5$ to $p\\ge 5$.
