Abstract

In systems with long-range interactions, time evolution naturally leads towards states whose lifetime increases with system size.

Maximum entropy states are reached on much longer time scales. I will provide several examples of this phenomenon and discuss some physical realizations for dipolar systems and for free electron lasers.
